The Lych Gate was built in 1920 as a monument to those who had fought in World War 1, and added to after World War 2. The memorials to those who served, and those who also died are inside the Lych gate’s walls, and are shown below. Just about every village in the UK (and no doubt France and Germany for their many dead) has one of these memorials to the 750,000 British fallen in ‘the war to end wars’.
