On the Laughton Common White City page you can see the old steel frames/prefabricated concrete ‘pit houses’ built circa 1950. By 2005 they had been demolished and are now replaced by modern housing, as shown below.
As at November 2009 a lot of the new flats and houses were still for sale or rent, and there are still show houses on the site etc. (the big recession of 2008 – 2010 didn’t). But I’d have to say they are a big improvement on the old housing on this site.
Postscript: by 2020 they were all sold.
